Claremont Meadows is a suburb in the local government area of the City of Penrith, in the Greater Western Sydney region, in New South Wales, Australia. The suburb possesses a small shopping center that contains stores such as IGA supermarket, hairdressers, pharmacy, hot food shop, dental surgery, and bakery. Before the arrival of Europeans in Australia in 1799, the present-day Claremont Meadows were occupied by the Aboriginal Darug tribe. However, in the year 1810 Mary Bligh received a grant of 1,055 acres of land in the area from Governor Macquarie after she married Maurice O’Connell. Although their family never resided there, the property was named Coallee. Subsequently, the said land was subdivided and renamed as Claremont by Bryan Molloy. And in the year 1984, the area started its development as a residential suburb and has been growing steadily since. The suburb possesses an official record of 4,776 inhabitants according to the 2016 census.
