About Colyton

A suburb of Sydney, in New South Wales, Australia, Colyton is part of the Greater Western Sydney region, in the local government area of the City of Penrith. Erskine Park, along with Colyton are the City of Penrith’s easternmost suburbs. The suburb is one of the older ones in the St. Marys area. Colyton is mostly composed of residential areas, possessing homes on large blocks of land – primarily 1/4-acre and 1/3-acre blocks. Large sporting fields can also be seen in Colyton, along with Colyton Shopping Center, the Life Education Center, Bennett Road Primary School, and Colyton High School. The name Colyton came from Colyton in Devon, England, the home of the wife of William Cox Junior, son of the famed builder of the road that crosses the Blue Mountains, which is also named William. The property owned by the late Cox was located on the southern side of the Western Highway, which was primarily used for grazing and wheat growing.
