Erskine Park, along with Colyton are the City of Penrith’s easternmost suburbs. The suburb is one of the older ones in the St. Marys area. Colyton is mostly composed of residential areas, possessing homes on large blocks of land – primarily 1/4-acre and 1/3-acre blocks. The name Colyton came from Colyton in Devon, England, the home of the wife of William Cox Junior, son of the famed builder of the road that crosses the Blue Mountains, which is also named William. The property owned by the late Cox was located on the southern side of the Western Highway, which was primarily used for grazing and wheat growing.
