A harbourside suburb of Sydney, in New South Wales, Australia, Kirribilli is one of the City’s most established and affluent neighborhoods. The suburb belongs to the local government area of North Sydney Council. Kirribilli is among the older suburbs of Australia, with its first land grant being awarded as early as the 1790s by the colonial government. The development of houses and mansions started in the 1830s up to the ‘50s, although most of these establishments have since been razed. With the construction of new residential streets, Victorian villas were erected and later on, blocks of apartments can also be seen within the area. The suburb contains one of the two official residences of the Prime Minister of Australia, the Kirribilli House, the Admiralty House is also situated in Kirribilli, recognized as the suburb’s oldest building, it is also the official Sydney residence of the Governor-General of Australia.
