About Collaroy

A suburb in the northern region of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, Collaroy is under the jurisdiction of the local government area of Northern Beaches Council. Nicknamed “The Roy” by locals, Collaroy possesses diverse wildlife, from birds to aquatic animals. Sea Eagles, Pelicans, Ducks, Terns, and Yellow Crested-Cockatoo can be seen within the suburb along with Dolphins and Whales that are in their migrating season. The suburb’s shopping district is centered around Pittwater Road. Small retail businesses flourish in the area, such as cafes, a bookshop, restaurants, takeaway bars, a pharmacy, a newsagent/post office, and many more. Collaroy was once part of Narrabeen but was later renamed after S.S. Collaroy sunk in its beach in 1881. The ship was later refloated and then wrecked on the Californian Coast in 1889.
