Clemton Park is a suburb under the City of Canterbury-Bankstown, in south-western Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The suburb is almost entirely composed of residential areas, the institutions, shops, and other facilities related to “Clemton Park” are mostly located along the boundaries of the suburb. The present-day Clemton Park was once part of the 50-acre Laycock Estate awarded to Hannah Laycock 1804, the wife of the former Quartermaster Thomas Laycock. Before the creation of the suburb, it was part of Earlwood. The name “Clemton Park” was said to be the early suggestion for the suburb’s name but records showed that it was used from the year 1925 as part of the campaign to lobby for an extension of the tram line in the area. The name was designated as a “neighbourhood” name from 1977 until 1993 by Geographical Names Board. It wasn’t until 2000 that Clemton Park separated from Earlwood to become an official suburb.
