A suburb of Sydney, in New South Wales, Australia, Camden is a historic town with tons of heritage sightings. Camden is a historic center from years as far back as the early nineteenth century. Early development in the Australian wool, wine, and wheat industries is also associated with Camden. In the year 1841, the first post office in Camden started operating, being only preceded by a post office based at Cawdor in the 1830s, where mail are regularly exchanged three times a week all over Sydney. Other heritage sites can also be found around this historic town; such as Camden Park House and Garden, Camden Park and Belgenny Park, Macquarie Grove, Nant Gwylan and Garden, and St. Johns Anglican Church Precinct. Before the arrival of the Europeans in Camden, the area was occupied by the Gandangara people of the Southern Highlands, they call their home the Benkennie which means ‘dry land’. The natives live in extended groups of family numbering from 20 to 40 members. They hunted kangaroos, possums, and eels and gathered yams, seasonal fruits, and other vegetables to be their source of food.
