A suburb in southern-western Sydney, Ambarvale has a rich history that begins 40,000 years ago with the Tharawal people. The native culture continues up to this day here in Amabarvale, the surrounding area contains the history of their people which can be seen in rock engravings, cave paintings, axe grinding grooves, and as well as shell middens. The name Ambarvale came from a property establishment in 1816 by a former convict named Samuel Larkin. The actual property can be located in modern-day St. Helens Park. Ambarvale in the past is a dairy farm called Glen Lora. Although in the year 1972, the farms were sold for new housing and thus formed the new suburb in the year 1976. Due to its history, most of the dwellings in Ambarvale were built in the 1970s and 1980s. One of the interesting facts about Ambarvale is that street names are based on Charles Dickens’ novels.
