Queenscliff is a suburb of Sydney in New South Wales, Australia. It is part of the Northern Beaches region, in the Northern Beaches Council local government area. The suburb is situated approximately 16 kilometres north-east of the Sydney Central Business District. The name of the suburb was named after Queen Victoria. Historically, the now Queenscliff was previously called Guringai Country where the Garigal or Caregal people reside. Queenscliff is popular in Australia because of its surf beaches with “heavy” waves or bomboras that can be seen in the sea. The big wave surfing in the country started due to a story of Dave Jackman’s attempt to ride the waves in 1961.
