About Naremburn

Naremburn, a suburb nestled on Sydney`s lower North Shore in New South Wales, Australia, is situated approximately 6 kilometers north of the city`s central business district within the governance of the City of Willoughby. The origin of its name, dating back to the 1800s, remains uncertain, though it was initially known as Central Township. Land grants in the area were awarded to Humphrey Evans and Peter Dargan in 1794. Notably, a cave in Flat Rock Gully near Naremburn is believed to have been frequented by Henry Lawson, the renowned Australian writer and bush poet. In 2016, Naremburn had a population of 5,884, with a significant portion being Australian-born residents. The suburb features a modest shopping strip along Willoughby Road, a few churches, and once hosted two primary schools that have since been repurposed. Transportation options include bus routes and proximity to St Leonards railway station and the Warringah Freeway.
