About Cattai
Cattai, a historic suburb of Sydney in New South Wales, Australia, is nestled 44 kilometers northwest of the city`s central business district and 30 kilometers northwest of Parramatta. Bordered by the Hawkesbury River to the northwest and traversed by Cattai Creek, this locale embraces the notable Cattai Estate, housed within Cattai National Park, which includes an 1800s Georgian homestead built by Thomas Arndell, a former Magistrate. The area was originally inhabited by the Darug Indigenous Australians before European settlers arrived in the late 18th century. The name "Cattai" has roots in the First Fleet Assistant Surgeon and Magistrate Thomas Arndell`s homestead "Caddie," later known as Cattai Estate. The region hosts heritage-listed sites, including Cattai Estate, and boasts an affluent community with above-average household incomes. The charming Cattai Public School, established in 1886, contributes to the area`s rich educational history.
