About Bowen Mountain
A small rural town in New South Wales, Australia, Bowen Mountain belongs to the City of Hawkesbury. It is located on the bottom of the Blue Mountains, and the nearest shopping center in the area is the Kurrajong which lies about 5 km northeast of the town. The name Bowen came from an earlier settler of the area named George M. C. Bowen. Most part of the Bowen Mountain belongs to the Blue Mountains National Park, a park that covers about 247, 000 hectares of land. The National Park serves the bushwalkers greatly, with over 140 km of walking tracks and various lookouts. Crago Observatory is also located on Bowen Mountain, which is a large rotating dome consisting of a computer-guided Dobsonian telescope. The Astronomical Society of NSW is the one that operates the said observatory.
