About Blaxland
Blaxland is a town situated in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, Australia. It is located approximately 65 kilometers west of Sydney and falls under the jurisdiction of the City of Blue Mountains. The town shares its borders with Glenbrook, Mount Riverview, and Warrimoo and sits at an elevation of 234 meters. Blaxland owes its name to Gregory Blaxland, one of the explorers who, along with William Lawson and William Wentworth, discovered a passage over the Blue Mountains in 1813. Previously known as Wascoe, the area is notable for the remains of the Pilgrim Inn, a historic structure dating back to around 1825, which is now listed as a heritage site. The growth and development of Blaxland as a village can be attributed in part to the influence of Reverend Joshua Hargrave, who constructed the first church in the area and is associated with several heritage-listed homes, including Tanfield, Menahne, Rosedale, and Nardi.
