Located in the region of New South Wales, Australia, Bateau Bay is a suburb of the Central Coast. Bateau Bay lies in the land called Darkinjung for Indigenous Australians, which is part of the Central Coast Council local government area. Before the 1970s, the suburb was known as the Boar Harbour but was later renamed “Bateau” which means “boat” in French. Bateau Bay grants access to Crackneck Point, a popular local surfing spot. The southern section of Wyrrabalong National Park covers some parts of Bateau Bay. The park’s coastal cliffs are made out of rock platforms, which is excellent for low-tide explorations and rock fishing.
