Badgerys Creek, a suburb of Sydney, Australia, located about 41 kilometres west of the city centre, is known for being the favoured site for a second Sydney Airport. The construction of the Western Sydney Airport, initially planned for 2016, began in September 2018 and is expected to be completed by 2026. The area has various facilities, including the CSIRO Research Station, the University of Sydney MacGarvie Smith Veterinary Farm, and a landfill depot. There are also brickworks, Telstra-owned land, and reservoirs in the southeast. The suburb used to have a primary school and churches with cemeteries, but they were decommissioned and relocated to make way for the airport. In the 2016 Census, Badgerys Creek had a population of 225 people, with the majority born in Australia and English being the primary language spoken at home. The suburb features Badgerys Creek Park, which had a demolished toilet block.
