A suburb of Sydney, Annangrove is 42 kilometres northwest of the Sydney Central Business District. Annangrove is part of the local government area of The Hills Shire and is located within the Hills District region. The name Annangrove came from Annangrove House, the home of Edward Johnston, the grandson of George Johnston, who received a massive land in present-day Annandale. The first ever industry in Annangrove was timber cutting, on the land used for orchards from the 1880s. Bennett William Johns is the owner of the land before Edward Johnston bought it in the year 1893. The post office took the name Annangrove when it first opened in 1895 and so did the school the following year. Annangrove’s population only amounted to 1,397 according to the 2016 census. The most common religious affiliation in the area is Catholic at 38.7%, Anglican at 17.7%, and No Religion at 14.9%.
