About Wareemba

Wareemba, a compact suburb in Sydney`s Inner West, stands out for its small size, situated 12 kilometers west of the CBD on the Parramatta River. Originating from the 1830s as a farming area, Wareemba officially became a separate suburb in 1993, previously part of Abbotsford. Its name, derived from an Aboriginal term meaning "place where sweet water meets salt water," reflects its geographical significance. Wareemba features a renowned commercial zone along Great North Road, particularly known for its distinctive combination of fruit shops and coffee establishments. With a population of 1,546 people, the suburb showcases a notable Italian influence, comprising 22.6% of residents, and exhibits a diverse demographic with English as the predominant language, Catholicism as the major religion, and a range of cultural backgrounds.
